A sweet little novelty pin dating to the latter 19th century, this bright Green beastie is also set with miniature natural Pearls to the edges of the wings. In Silver, it likely dates circa 1870s as the acid green Paste matches the colour of the Demantoid variety of Garnet which was discovered in 1868 and was immensely fashionable around the time. To secure, you flex the sprung wings. Marked '900' Silver to the pin a standard used in Germany. It measures an inch across the wings. Please note there is some damage to a couple of the Pastes but the colour is so distinctive and vivid we decided to leave as is.
