This pretty hand carved brooch, circa 1870's, this sweet antique brooch would likely have been bought as a souvenir when visiting the English seaside town of Whitby. Famous for this local Jet which was found in seams along the coast, many workshops existed at the time dedicated to hand carving this most wonderfully glossy mineral into jewels.
Measures just an inch and a half and closes with the original 'C' clasp.
